Spent early years in Kenilworth (in the Mary Valley). Joined Forestry Department, Qld in 1964 and received four years training in Forestry activities, travelling to Forestry centres all over Queensland.

Asked to join the Army for National Service in 1969 and served in South Vietnam with 2 RAR/NZ as a platoon signaller, section 2IC and section commander in a rifle platoon. Discharged from the Army in 1971 after completion of National Service and returned to Forestry.

Received several promotions with Forestry and worked in the Chinchilla, Stanthorpe, Manumbar and Jimna areas. Final position was as Forest Ranger in Charge of the Jimna/ Manumbar Forestry areas, ceasing work for medical reasons in 2006 after some 42 years with Forestry.

For the last 20 odd years with Forestry, I was responsible for preparing work programs, budgets to carry out those work programs and then to implement the programs and stay within the budgeted targets.

Activities ranged from road design and construction, fire management, seedling production, land clearing, plantation and forest silviculture, harvesting design, logging, staff management and office administration.

Joined VVAA in Gympie in 1996 and have been the Treasurer for Gympie since 2004. Became an active participant at State Meetings from 2008.

My wife and I live in Gympie and have no plans for moving. We have a caravan and will travel.
